M7 Bayonet

The M7 bayonet (NSN 1095-00-017-9701) is a bayonet that was used by the U.S. military for the M16 rifle, it can also be used with the M4 carbine as well as many other assault rifles, carbines, and combat shotguns. It can be used as a fighting knife and utility tool. It was introduced in 1964, when the M16 rifle entered service during the Vietnam War.

Overall issued condition blade still sharp but some blueing has worn in spots

Design: Based on the earlier M4 bayonet, the M7 was modified with a larger muzzle ring to fit the M16 flash hider. It features plastic grips and a locking lever on the pommel.

Utility: Beyond its use as a bayonet on M16, M4, and various shotguns, it serves as a versatile fighting/utility knife.

Production: Manufactured by various contractors including Bauer Ordnance, Conetta, Imperial, General Cutlery, and Ontario Knife Co. Over 4 million have been produced.

Current Status: While largely replaced by the M9, the M7 was produced for decades and remains a popular collector item.
